"Hi my name is Missan Edwards and my husband, Doug Edwards. We are the owner of ETO Martial Arts and Fitness in Kennesaw, Georgia. How do you spin a Bo Staff? There is various spins. You can spin a Bo over your hand much like the baton twirlers do, around and you have got a lot of fancy maneuvers here. There's some basics though and one of the basics is a Figure 8 spin. So if I were to hit a just basic front stance and I keep my hand up for protection, I'm going to have a Figure 8 in front of me, that's my visual and I am going to take the bottom of the Bo Staff and I am going to trace the 8 and then when I get comfortable with it, then I get the speed and then I can add some locomotion to it. Now basically what am I doing? I am assimilating striking and blocking techniques at the same time, then I stop it with the back and I'm ready to go. Another spin is one that you hold in your hand here and then you just rotate the wrist, taking the back and then catch or you can go in the opposite direction. Now once you get that basic spin down and you're pretty comfortable with it then you add speed and movement to the technique which could look something like this."
