Hi, my name is Missan Edwards and my husband Doug Edwards, we are the owners at ETO Martial Arts and Fitness in Kennesaw Georgia. I'd like to share with you some weapons that are used in the martial arts. Now there are many different weapons that come from any different countries. The few that I have in front of me today, you've got some metal weapons as well as some wooden weapons. Let me start with the one that is probably the most popular in many styles, we call this a Bo. It's basically a long, fighting staff and it originated a hundred of years ago, when the warriors would be just through the woods, using a stick, a walking stick. That could transition into a weapon, if needed. Same with this stick, now it's a shorter stick, you can use two or one, it's called an Eskrima stick, it's a short fighting staff. Now we get into some that are a little bit more glitzy, we've got this particular weapon, it's called the Chinese broad sword. Now this is more of a competition style weapon, because it's got a spring blade to it. The original weapons were a little bit more solid and sturdy, to do some damage, when especially with the speed techniques. Now another favorite that I have is this particular weapon, it's called the Kama. In the ancient world, the folks would be in the rice paddies actually, and they would be cutting down the rice plants. And then when the opposing army would attack, they would be ho, ready to go. And then their tool, their gardening tool actually became a weapon. And now my final show and tell piece is this staff, it's called the Sai. It's got three blades on it and then it's also got a blunt end. So you can actually jab and strike or you can strike with the back.
