"Hi, I'm Sherry Ayles from Customary Couture in Cedar Park, Texas and this is how to measure a bride for a bridal gown. The things you'll need for measuring a bride are measuring tape; the bride and as few clothes as possible, preferably in her undergarments and a shoe that simulates the heel height of the shoe that she'll be wearing. So the first thing that you're going to do is measure the bust. We're going to have her put her arms straight out. Take the measuring tape around the fullest part of the bust. You really don't want to try doing this your own; you want to have someone who knows what they're doing to make your measurements. We're going to have her put her arms back down and write down her measurement. Next we're going to take the measurement on the waist. Girls these days really don't know what their waist is; so if you're uncertain, have the bride lean to one side or the other. The natural point where the body moves is the waistline. Then have her stand up straight and firmly measure. The next measurement is going to be the hip. It's going to be the widest part around the center of the bottom. Then if she were going to be measured for the length of her gown; we would have her in the gown. We would take a measurement from where the gown begins to the floor. This is Sherry Ayles from Customary Couture and this has been how to measure a bride for a bridal gown."
