"Hi I'm Will from the Outspokin Bicycle and Sport Shop located in Newbury, New Hampshire and today we're going to talk a little bit about ski helmets. There is a lot of really good products out there nowadays and that's a good thing. I think you'll find most shops will tell you that they are probably selling ski helmets over hats nowadays at least to five to one, pretty popular, makes a lot of sense. Helmets in general have gotten a lot lighter. They are a lot easier to justify putting on your head. You don't really feel like there is anything there. Once you get used to the bulk it's almost like having a hat anyway. So the light factor is really great. Springtime having a solid piece of foam on your head isn't so nice because you get really hot so ventilation is key. You have got to get a helmet that has ventilation. Some even have adjustments on ventilation. This particular case you can close it. You can have it in the middle or open. It allows you to regulate the air flow and that really is a huge help. There is nothing like a nice hot Spring day you want to take your helmet off and then your not being as safe. Overall fitting systems are amazing, taken a lot of, like this particular company is big in bicycle helmets and auto racing helmets so they have got a lot of their technology from that segment. You have full wrap around your head that is controlled now by just a dial so you can really just get that perfect fit, super snug one day a little looser the next day, it's all up to you, whatever works to keep you comfortable. All of this material here Velcros out, you can wash it, it's cool max, allows you to breath real well. One thing I haven't really talked about is the fact that these helmets are really warm. The early helmets had full ear coverage. They almost looked like car racing helmets, motorcycle helmets and they probably were a little bit like that. Now they have gotten to the point where just your ear is covered like a little ear muff. You can hear really well and that's really important when you are out there on the slopes, just the fact that wind can't get through here unlike a wool hat makes them super warm. They're really comfortable to wear, you can wear them in the coldest days and they make a big difference in terms of your enjoyment, that's really huge so you can kind of see they look like a helmet but if you look closer there is a lot of little detail work, unlike bike helmets, these are made for multiple hits meaning you can kind of whack your head a few times, you don't need to go into the shop and make sure that it's okay. Bike helmets are completely different, have a lot more holes in them for ventilation. Anytime you have an accident with a bike helmet you need to get into a shop to check them. These are designed with a full wrap, in this case here a full plastic wrap, a lot of integrity and the one last thing is try to get something that has something that will hold your goggle strap on, that's really important, just a simple little thing like this to keep your goggle strap, to keep that goggle when you put it up on your helmet from flipping off your helmet. So that's a key feature too and that's just a little bit about ski helmets."
