"Hi, I'm Krista Calvin, a professional organizer and owner of The She Bang, the Smart Woman's Guide To Doing It All. I want to show you how to organize your clothes and you can see that I'm utilizing the whole bed for this. So get your bed made and get ready. First thing, go in the closet and pull out of the wire hangers, the trash, the shopping bags; get the trash out. That's the first major step. Second step, have the right product for the job. So get yourself some matching hangers and it doesn't have to be expensive; but find a matching set, it makes a world of difference in your closet. Next step is to get your sign setup and I like to use the signs so I don't forget what's in what piles; especially if your girlfriends helping you, that way she can just put it in the right pile for you and you can go through this like crazy. Categories that I find really useful: returns; you're going to have things in your closet, they probably still have tags on it and you might even have the receipts; get those return especially if you don't want them. Consign it; they'll be a couple of items in there that are worth something and you might have a hard time parting with it; consigning is a great idea. Toss; you're going to have the holes, the tops, the rips, the tears, the beyond donation pile items. Those go into toss and have a really big bag for your donation. I highly recommend you think about where you want to donate your items beforehand and that will entice to give a little bit more if you know, know they're going to a nice home. Two of the major categories; your keep pile which will be pretty big and your need to decide because sometimes you just need to maul it over a little bit and when you're done mauling it over, then you'll determine what pile that goes into and you do that at the end. Trust me, you'll get rid of so much more toward the end because you're done with it. Here's my favorite one. When you're going through, you're going to realize that you're getting rid of items that you love; but they've gotten too nubby, they're worn out; make yourself a to-buy list. So as you're going through jot it down and you won't forget what you need to replace next time you go shopping. I recommend not pulling out all the clothes in your closet; takes too long and it's too overwhelming. So just take one section at a time and this is where it's great if you have someone helping you. They can bring the section out; you can go through it and then get it replace and get the next section out. So, one section at a time. When you're going through; to me this is a keeper and it's in season for me. Same with this one; going through pretty quickly. Now something I bought; don't really wear it as much as I thought I would; it's in good shape; hmm, but out of season I probably can't consign it. So I'll donate it. Keeper; love it, but it always hikes up a little bit; not quite the right fit; that one is a goner. Keeper; starting to get a little faded; by next summer, probably not going to be wearing that one. And then the item that I bought that I always thought I would wear, never really wore. That one is good enough and a nice enough quality for a consignment. So repeat the process with each section of your closet and if you need to try things on and you're not quite sure, you can make a pile just for that so that you're doing all your try-ons for pants at one time. Simple way to get your closet clothes organized and it's not as painful as you think."
