"Hello, my name is Dr. Simion Tsinker, I'm with Plantation Maternity Center in Plantation, Florida. Let's talk about how to avoid stretch marks in pregnancy. Unfortunately, in this area, I don't have anything cheerful to tell my patients and other patients as well. Stretch marks of course, occur in pregnancy with the increasing size of the, of the abdomen and weight gain during pregnancy. But the cause for stretch marks is genetic in origin. Therefore if a woman does not have genetic predisposition to develop stretch marks, if even she carries a large baby, she's not going to have the stretch marks. On the other hand, the woman who is unfortunate to have the genetic predisposition for the stretch marks, will have the stretch marks. And they usually, when they come they could vary in size and in numbers, they're purple in color. But they have a tendency to fade with time and become white or silvery."
