Hi my name is Sunshine with Sunshine Safety. I'm located here in Snellville, Georgia. I have been involved in the health and safety business for approximately 15 years. I started out as a lifeguard and eventually became an instructor. Today I'm going to talk to you about how to wrap an ankle with athletic tape. You can either use just regular athletic tape or you can put a piece of foam underneath the tape. It just makes it a little more comfortable for the individual. Make sure that the person flexes their foot. You can place the pre-wrap on. Once again you don't have to use the pre-wrap but it just makes it a little bit more comfortable for the individual. Take the athletic tape. Wrap it securely around the victim's leg. You don't want to make it too tight. You simply ask them how it feels and if they tell you it's too tight you simply just loosen. When you're finished tear off the tape, making sure it's secure. You do want to check the toes to make sure that there's still warmth in the toes and make sure that they can still have feeling in the toes. And you can even ask them to wiggle their toes just to make sure that they have feeling.
