"Hi my name is Lisa. I'm a hair stylist in Wilmington, North Carolina and I'm here to talk about how to curl hair with a skinny straightener or flatiron. I have two flatirons right here, one is about a one-inch flatiron. This is used mostly for really getting hair good and straight. It's a very high temperature hot tool and this is a little baby flatiron so tonight what I'm going to do on our model is create texture with the hot part of this little straightener. I'm just going to take like a one-inch section of dry hair. You always want to straighten dry hair. If you have any moisture in your hair you can really burn yourself or your client so you want to be sure the hair is good and dry. Just take the hair and wind it around the hot part of the iron and kind of pull it out and you want to just create a little bit of an unusual texture. It's going to be different than a curling iron because it's obviously not a round barrel. So you can proceed in that fashion throughout the hair. You can use a thermal protective spray if you'd like to protect the hair from the heat and that is how you create curl with a skinny straightener."
