"Hi, today we're going to talk about how to climb mountains. Generally, it's pretty much the same principle as rock climbing. There's; mountains consist of rocks, snow, ice; generally gullies filled with loose rubble filled together with ice. They generally involves a lot of hiking to get to the base of the mountain; then, multiple pitches of rock climbing or snow and ice climbing; then a descent, once you get to the summit, that can be long and involve; so it's always good to take plenty of, or maybe a, an emergency tent, stove, some tea, plenty of water and food. If you, if you're doing alpine rock climbing, you generally use the same type of gear that you would use for regular rock climbing. You can use this camming devices that come in different brands and sizes. Basically constrict them, they go in the crack, then the second can come pull, retract them and pull them right up, bring them back up; come in different sizes. Some of them called stoppers. It's basically replaced pitons that they use to drive in the cracks, little spikes. These are much more friendly to the, to the rock. Leader places them in; places one in; clips a rudder to the piece; the other end clips to the rope so you get some slack when you're, as you rope, as your route benders; stop giving you too much drag on the rope. And as the second comes up, he brings up, cleans all the gear up and brings it up with him. For snow and ice climbing, there's a lot of other gear that's involve. You need better boots. You need not rock climbing shoes. Most, most mountaineers will bring a set of rock climbing shoes, but then also some big mountain boots because you need to be able to, has even have strap crampons on. Crampons are spikes that strap on to your boots that allow you to climb ice and steep snow. And you have an ice hacks and ice hammers for placing ice screws. It's, if there's no rocks to place any protection in you can turn a nice screw right into the ice and clip into that. Snow and ice climbing is inherently more dangerous. It's not as stable as rock is. You could be avalanches, you should always wear a helmet and you should always be in really good shape because the, the air is much thinner in altitude which you can climb at sea level; you have a lot harder time climbing at 12 thousand feet. But, but it's a lot of fun. So find a teacher or friend who's experienced. Don't just head out into the mountains because you might never come back."
