How to Remove Key Scratches on a Car

"Hi my name is Diesel and I am the owner and operator of 4U2C Mobile Auto Detailing here in beautiful Hotlanta, Georgia. Here I'm going to show you how to get out a key scratch. Some key scratches cannot be gotten out because they are all the way to the metal because if you have someone that really doesn't like you and they put a lot of muscle behind it there's a chance you're not going to get that scratch out, but for scratches that are really light what you can do is you can actually buff them out. You can either use sandpaper if it's too deep but then you are starting to get into stuff that you really want to leave up to a professional body shop. At your level we can use a polish or actually a compound and a buffer. That's what I'm going to do. Right here I have a key scratch. I am going to put a little compound directly on my buffer pad and one thing you want to remember is you never want to buff in the sunlight. I know we're in the sun right now but this is only for this purpose only but any other time I would try to do it in the shade and even though this is in the sun the sun is actually facing away from the car so we're actually in a shaded area of a car. You place it right against the scratch, you work it in a little bit and then you just start to turn the buffer on. Try to keep it at about 1400 and spread it and then you go full speed with it. Always keep the buffer moving side to side, never stop it because you will burn the paint. Try not to turn the speed up too high. After this you might want to go over it with a glaze or swirl remover to get out any swirls that the wool pad might leave and wax it. That's pretty much how you get out a key scratch."
