Step 1
Cut two squares from 1 or 2 greeting cards. The squares should be 1/4" different in size. For this video I made a 5" and a 4 3/4" square. Starting with either square, find the center by holding your ruler from point to point and draw a line. Do that at all 4 points. The center is where the lines meet.
-
Step 2
Take one point and bring it up to the center, fold it. Take that fold and bring it up to the center, fold that. Flatten and do the same with all 4 points, flattening each time. Now you can crease each fold individually to make them sharper.
-
Step 3
With one point facing you, cut on the vertical crease up to the horizontal crease that is closest to the center. Do that again on the other side of the same point. Turn the square around and make the same cuts at the opposite point. You now have 2 sides with flaps.
-
Step 4
Take one of those sides and fold it up with the flaps on the inside. Do the same with the opposite side. Take the point that is facing you and bring it up and over the flaps. Do the same with the opposite point. You've made half of a box. Repeat with the other square to complete the box.

on 10/31/2009 Wow! That was really neat. Thank goodness you had a video because I don't think I would have figured out all of those folds on my own!!

on 9/29/2009 Nice idea for repurposing greeting cards. They would be perfect for small gifts like jewelry.
