Step 1
The locks of an electric guitarPlug your guitar into the tuner or amplifier with built in tuner. (this rule only applies to electric guitars)-> Use your tuner tool to insure that you loosen up the 3 main locks on the top of the neck by the tuner heads BEFORE you start tuning. If you do not do such, when you begin to tune with tight locks, your strings will break.
-
Step 2
The lights of the tuner, the clear tuner button, and the knob to switch from string to string when tuning(this applies to a built in amplifier tuner)-> Tune each string, referring to the 3 main lights above the clear tuner button (red, green, and red) When green is lit, the string you are currently on is fine, and does not need to be tuned. When a green and a red light is lit at the same time, it means you may have to tune that string just a bit to get it to only be lit green. A red light indicates your string it out of tune, and needs to be adjusted with it's proper tuning head. Note: If a red light continuously blinks red, it means you are plucking the wrong string, the switch is on the wrong string. When green is lit, and red blinks on and off, but green is continuously lit, it means that your string does not need to be adjusted much.
-
Step 3
Go back a few times in the process of tuning, from 6th string, (thickest string) and 1st string (skinniest string) to insure that your strings are tuned.
-
Step 4
The tuner tool and locks of the electric guitarUse your tuner tool to tighten up the locks on your electric guitar to insure your strings stay in tune for some time.
