How to Add Video To An Ebay Listing With A Flip Video Camera

Video Preview

Summary: Ebay listings that include video draw more attention and give more information to potential buyers. If multiple sellers are offering the same item you are, video could help set your listing apart and get you the sale instead of someone else. Pictures in a listing are great, but a video gives detail and information that photos can't. If you want to do something that could possibly increase your sales, here is How To Add Video To An Ebay Listing With A Flip Video Camera.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

First, take some good video of your item with your Flip camera. Be sure to cover all angles and take wide, as well as closeup shots. If you are comfortable with narration, describe the item as you shoot. Mention it's best features, as these are selling points, but also make sure you mention and show any defects as well. The power of video in your eBay listing is that the buyer can see exactly what they are buying, and the more detail you can show, the more likely they are to be satisfied with their purchase. The Flip makes taking video easy, and if you're not satisfied with what you've just filmed, erase it and re-shoot until you get the footage you want.

  2. Step 2

Upload your footage to your computer. Plug in the Flip's USB and the video will load into the FlipShare program that automatically launches. Edit the video as needed.

It is a good idea at this point to add a Title to the beginning of the video, with the title being the item listing title of your eBay listing. Add your username to the end of the video in the credits, and save it.

  3. Step 3

Using the FlipShare program, upload your video to YouTube. Be sure that you have saved your video with a good descriptive title that will cause it to show up in Google searches if somebody is looking for that item. In other words, don't save your video of a Hot Wheels car as "myvideo12", save it as Hot_Wheels_1968_Mustang.

Once your video is uploaded to YouTube, there is a section of the page that says "Embed". (If this isn't showing up on the page, you may need to click on "Play" for the video to cause this option to appear.) Click in the "Embed" box so that the text is highlighted. Right-click on the highlighted text so that the selection box appears and click on "Copy". This copies the link to the video to your computer's clipboard.

  4. Step 4

Begin to create your item listing in eBay. When you get to the "Describe The Item You're Selling" section, click on the "HTML" tab at the top. Scroll down to the very bottom of the HTML listing, click at the very end of the text so that the cursor is flashing. Right-click on the page and then click on "Paste" from the menu. This will paste in the link for your video into your listing.

Click on the "Standard" tab at the top of the section and you will see an outline of where the video will appear in your listing at the very bottom of your item description. You can center the video or move it up higher into your item description if you don't want it to appear at the bottom of all your text.

The video won't appear until the item is actually listed on eBay. Then anyone who looks at your listing will be able to click on the video and watch what you have created! And when they watch, hopefully they will also want to buy!
