Instructions
  1. Step 1

Your altar is where you will practice spellwork and rituals. You will lay out the ingredients on your altar. Altars are made from natural ingredients such as wood or stone. You can make your altar out of wood or stone or you can purchase a fancy altar. You may also use a dresser, shelf, fireplace mantle or coffee table. Your altar is your sacred space and you should feel comfortable with it while working magick.

  2. Step 2

Always remember that your altar is your anchor - linking you to the magickal world. You can set up your altar each time you do magick/spellcasting or leave your altar set up all of the time. It is easier just to leave your altar set up all of the time.

  3. Step 3

Place all the tools you need for spell casting on your altar. Avoid cluttering up your altar since it is a sacred space. When your life is stressful, you may find that going to your altar and rearranging it may relax you. If you only have a few moments to clean your house, start with your altar. It will distribute loving energy. As you work on/clean your altar, try chanting:

    Loving energy spread from here,
Focus my life both far and near.

  4. Step 4

You may want to cover your altar with a decorative cloth. You should place a pentacle on your altar. A pentacle is a 5-pointed star inside a circle which represents the 5 elements - Air, Fire, Water, Earth and Akasha (spirit). Burn oils and incense on your altar - this will enhance your spell casting. Keep your oils and herbs for spellcasting on your altar. Always have a candle on your altar. The candle represents a connection between you and your higher self. Light the candle each time you work at your altar. Crystals should be kept on your altar. Necklaces or charms that you wear everyday can be placed on you altar when doing spells. All of these items are being charged with your personal power when they are on your altar and you are doing spell work.
