Hi, my name is Valerie Kevorkian and I'm with Tarpoon Lagoon Dive Center, Miami Beach, Florida. Let's talk about he staple diet of a diver. Actually is staple diet of a diver is nothing really special, the most important thing about a diver's diet is to stay hydrated. So it's necessary and important for a diver to drink a lot of liquid before to diving, preferably water, some type of a drink like Gatorade, something that will give you lots of hydration. As far as food and the diet, it's really nothing special, it's generally up to the nutritional needs of the individual diver. If you're going out on a boat, you may want to eat a slight meal, something a little less heavy than normal. So that you will have enough nutrition for energy, however you won't be feeling too much of the motion sickness on the boat. If you're diving off, of a beach, then again, you may want to eat, keeping it light so as not to be uncomfortable while scuba diving. A staple diet of a diver is very simple. You may want to stay away from greasy foods that are heavy on your stomach because you are going to be exercising and that will slow you down. You also want to make sure, not to drink carbonated drinks as those can cause you a little discomfort while scuba diving. Stay hydrated and happy diving.
