The question was asked how do you choose the correct youth baseball mitt size. First of all I want to qualify between what a mitt is, this is a glove which is usually used by pitchers, infielders and outfielders. This is a mitt that is usually used by catchers. There is also a first baseman's mitt which is more elongated and a flatter mitt but assuming you really want to know the answer to the question about mitt size and not glove size basically get your son or daughter the largest size mitt they can still handle appropriately. So to do so you're going to have to try several mitts on. The bigger the mitt the better they have the chance to catch the ball but you don't want to go to a point where the size and the weight makes them clumsy in muffing the ball when they catch it. So basically get them to try it on, get them to feel it and see if they are agile enough to move to the ball and catch it in the pocket. The smaller the mitt the harder, the more difficult that task is and the larger, the easier that is but then we get to a point where it's negated because the mitt is so big and so heavy that they can't control it appropriately so the answer to your question in short would be get the largest mitt size that you can get that your son or daughter can still handle. So that's how to appropriately choose the correct mitt size.
