"Hello, Dan LeSieur here with DK Landscape Maintenance, Wasuba, Washington. Been asked to talk to you folks about aerating your yard. Well we have a pitchfork here. You've seen that old farmer in the dell with his pitchfork and his wife, easiest cheapest way to aerate your yard. Just take your pitchfork, put it in the ground backwards, push down, wiggle, pull it up, do it again. Move it a couple inches and you only need to go in to the ground two to four inches. Now let's talk, you got a yard the size that we're in right now, and you don't quite have the energy you did when you were twenty, you might want to rent a machine. You can rent a machine at your local rental yard or you could call a professional like myself and we'll come and we'll aerate for you. We have machines that do it. It puts little plugs in the ground about four inches, and it actually takes the soil out and you can get these little pieces of soil out of the ground and that is aerating. It will help your lawn grow and lets the fertilizer in and the water in."
