Hi this is Yolanda Vanveen and in this segment I want to talk about how to grow wheatgrass hydroponically. Now basically hydroponically means growing something in water alone, no soil at all. Now wheatgrass is really easy to grow hydroponically because it will grow right into water. You can just put some seeds on the bottom of a tray, add water and it will grow. Now you can do this at home very easily and there is just a few rules that you should follow. Now first of all you need to get fresh seeds because wheatgrass a lot of times if you buy it at the store it has been cooked or baked and it won't sprout, it won't grow. So you've got to make sure you have wheatgrass that is fresh. Now you can grow things hydroponically and it is very easy to use recycled material at home. This is just a cake container and I have just put some material, this is just kind of a synthetic material that doesn't break apart but I've even used paper towels before because wheatgrass it will sprout so quickly that even within a week you will have enough wheatgrass that you can start using it and basically the first thing that I do is soak the wheat itself for about ten to twelve hours in water so that it is really wet and then you just set it into your tray. You can always just have some water in the tray already and have it soaking. Now the trick is just to leave it soaking in water and you want it not in standing water, you want the water just to keep the material wet and once it starts to sprout the trick is keep it moist but not really sitting in too deep of water and then that way it will just continue to grow and you will have wheatgrass within one week that you can use and it is that easy and wheatgrass is so wonderful because it is better than most types of flower because it is gluten free and has lots of types of omegas in it which are great antioxidants. So it is easy to grow whether you do it inside or outside.
