Step 1
Cut your band material- making sure it is double the width of the fattest part of your headband with a little extra for seam allowance. This will be the sheath you slip over the headband.
-
Step 2
Cut your ears out. You will need 4 pieces total- two for the outside, two for the inside.
-
Step 3
Sew the band material together to make the sheath. Turn right-side out using a capped pen, a pencil, a chopstick, or some other blunt object.
-
Step 4
Slip the sheath over your headband. Fold up the ends. Cut the extra on the bottom off to about an inch. Hand sew to the band.
-
Step 5
Sew around the ears. Turn right-side out.
-
Step 6
Make a wire form, if your ears are tall, so they will hold their form and stand up (unless you want floppy ears). Twist two chenille sticks together and shove into one of your ears. For extra support for particularly long ears, you may need a third chenille stick up the middle. Do the same to the other ear
-
Step 7
Bend the ends of the chenille sticks that hang over. Hot glue them to your band at an even distance. Clip the excess off when the glue is set.
-
Step 8
Hand sew around the edges of your ears, making sure to cover your chenille sticks.

on 9/2/2009 It sounds so simple! thanks for the instructions for making a Bunny ear Headband. This same technique would work for mouse or cat ears too, wouldn't it?
