    "Cut-Squish-Roll"
    Making the Body Parts
This project has multiple parts. In order to keep yourself on course, watch the video and look at the photos so you will be successful. Roll a ball of clay into a cone shape. Roll the end of the cone to form a tail. Form a hook and stand up the form. This is your main body and tail. Take a ball of clay and cut it in half. Roll each half into a ball and then form 2 little fat cylinders. Roll the cylinders into 2 cone shapes and cut the smaller ends so you will have a clean even top. These are your legs. Take another ball of clay and roll into a coil (snake). Cut 2 even pieces, form 2 cylinders. These are your arms. Take one last ball of clay and form a cylinder. Cut one end and open. This is your mouth. Use your needle and add eyes and a nose. This is your head. Line up all your body parts you are ready to attach everything.

  2. Step 2
    Crosshatching the Body Parts

    Attaching Everything
When you attach a head to a body you need to secure it with a "pin". To make this use aluminum foil rolled into a toothpick form. Cut the foil to make a spike. Take the spike and push it into the head. Now when your body is put together you just push the spike into the body to attach the head and body together. WHEW-watch the video and look at the photos.

  3. Step 3

    Attaching Everything - CROSSHATCHING
Crosshatching is a ceramic term. Drawing a # number symbol in the clay with your needle at the points of attachment for all of your pieces secures the clay. If you don't crosshatch at the points there is a very good chance your pieces will fall apart. OMG! Crosshatch all of the body parts. Legs to body. Arms to body. Push the head to the completed body. Add any extra decorative details you want, using your needle or adding bits of colored clay. You're done. Preheat your kitchen oven according to the directions on the polymer clay wrapper. BAKE-COOL-and PAINT your eyes and details if you want. You did it!
