"When you have an insurance claim, your agent, which who is there to help you, basically the only job that they can do in that aspect is transfer information from you to the insurance company. You are basically dealing with the insurance adjuster. When they offer a settlement if you don't think that it is a fair settlement you can appeal it. And when you appeal it can eventually go to court if it is that extensive. A lot of times it is just going to be a back and forth thing a couple of times, and then you co me to an agreement. Because it is not, everything is not cut and dry, but they do have certain ways and certain charts. And you know what things cost to go through, but definitely if you feel like it is not in your best interest to accept the offer you can definitely appeal it or try to negotiate. But if it does end up going to court then you have to turn around and look at hiring a lawyer to do that. And you need to find a lawyer that knows about appealing insurance claims, because you don't want someone obviously someone who is use to dealing with something else. Basically you write a letter to the insurance company stating that you wanted to appeal it, and whether you think you are going to end up appealing it or not from the very beginning of filing a claim you should always keep any correspondence that you have between yourself, and the insurance adjuster or company or agent. Even if it is a note saying on this date I talked to this person, and they said this. Just keep everything, because you will need that information if it does eventually go to court."
