"Hi my name is Tanya Batts and I'm a personal trainer with Gold's Gym. I want to show you how to stretch an upper back. It's kind of weird you kind of think about gee I'm so tense, how do I get rid of it? Here's a simple way, lace your hands, I'm going to turn from the side so you can see what I'm doing. I'm pressing my hands away and as I do so I am rounding through the spine, making the letter C with my spine. Think about feeling the space in between the shoulder blades, amazing, reaching all the way up, lower down. That's a great way to stretch it. If you still can't find the stretch and you are looking to stretch it even better, lace your hands around your knee, still round through the spine, melt the shoulders down away from the ears, it's a great stretch and do the other leg because you are really rounding through. It feels amazing. Let's do another one. It's called the cat stretch and I like it. Hands under your shoulders, knees under your hips, you just want to round through like a cat, round through, chin to chest, tuck the tail under and then reverse it looking up at the ceiling, butt goes to the ceiling, round through that spine, oh, that's an amazing stretch. Right in the middle of the back. Another great one, let's just say you really can't stretch it, you can grab a ball, maybe even a bar and really pull against the bar or the beam of the gym and you are really stretching through the shoulders so those are just a few things you can do to really stretch and release all the tension out of that upper back."
