"Hi my name is Tanya Batts and I'm a personal trainer at Gold's Gym. Want to talk to you today about how to prevent a knee injury. Lots of knee injuries, very common injury but the best way to prevent these injuries are, you want to strengthen the muscles all around the knee. So I'm talking the quads of the thighs and the hamstrings and the calf muscle. Those are really important to keep strong to you know not get a knee injury. It's really important. The way to strengthen the quads, simple. Simple squats, you can do it with weights maybe the hands in front. You just want to sit down and come up. Now when I sit down, I'm sitting way back so my knee is not going over my toe. That's strengthening the thighs and the hamstrings. That's a great way to do it. You can even step back, come back up, strengthening the calves and the hamstrings. The next is a calf muscle. Real important muscle. A simple way to do it, you can even stand on the floor and lift up and lift down or you can find a step anywhere in your house. You can have two hand weights if you want, lift and lower. So it's a balancing boom. That's going to strengthen the calf muscle. And that's a great way to prevent any type of knee injury. Another way make sure you've got the proper footwear for any activity that you are doing. And that's how you prevent knee injuries."
