"Getting a sponsor and sponsorship. One of the things with my job that I do is the pro stuff and sponsorship director for the company. And so what I can tell you for that is we do get, we get a lot of people asking for stuff. But if you are going to do it, do it in a professional way. You know I get everything from one line emails saying, "I won my club tournament, I'm Mr. Bass. Would you like to sponsor me?" Well generally I don't pay too much attention to those. The ones that I am looking for is I am not interested in just giving you free bait. I am looking for somebody to help me market my company, market my products, market my bait, and yes if you are a good fisherman that is also a benefit. So do something professional. Take a very nice professional picture it doesn't have to be in a tournament shirt. Just make sure you are in a nice polo shirt, put it on your resume, send a resume. And your resume is just like applying for a job. That is what you are doing. You are applying for a job with me to represent my company in a professional manner. And I look for people who have sent me very detailed resumes. I look for guys who are can write what they are trying to represent. They are being very colorful, and telling me a lot of stuff about what they are doing, and how they are going to help me promote my company. Not how I am a good fisherman, and I've done this, and it is all about me. I want them to tell me how they are going to help me. So if you are going to apply, and want sponsorships go about it in that manner. And also send them a letter, send them that resume, send it, and a couple of weeks after that you will give them a call. And don't be afraid, and don't be upset if they tell you no. Because sometimes in their area they might have too many guys, and we might be cutting back. Maybe the economic times they need to cut back. And so just, but just keep in touch with them, and if you do good during the tournament, and you are using their product say it. Don't just say well I am using a soft plastic worm. If you tell a company, because you are not sponsored with them, but if you are using a soft plastic worm. You are using a Gary Yamamoto custom swim senko, say it on there, promote it, and every chance you get. And just because you are not on pro staff doesn't mean they don't recognize it. And now they start seeing your name come across that, that will help you get your foot in the door. But the biggest thing be professional, and do it properly."
