"Hello. My name is Nene Ortega. I'm a dance instructor at the Goddess' Store in Hollywood, Florida. In this clip, we're going to talk about the, how the Baroque dance is performed? Baroque dance belongs to the period of the late 1600s when Louis 14th, king of France was in power. Louis 14th was very theatrical, very artistic, so he allowed all these dancers to influence the social or ballroom dancing and the theatrical or ballet dancing in the court of France and later in Europe up to our days. So, I'm going to show you few steps of the Baroque dancing that are the first step of the ballet dancing that now still you can find in the studios and in this time. So now, they have the plie, in French means bending so they have the plie. Now the elevate when you rise your feet and your knees so when I plie I bend my knees, I straighten them and then elevate meaning raising. Okay? Also, they have the pas de bourree which is a one, two, three, step so it's step, step, step, change and then going back step, one, two, three, and it's called pas de bourree, pas de bourree. I'm going to show it from another side, it's step, cross and front, pas de bourree, pas de bourree. So, this step is going forward with your point or going back with your point of your feet is part of the Baroque dance. The arms, the arms because it's a court and pas de deux meaning dancing for two, one arm will be always to the waist in this line of the waist either on the waist or in this or on this side and the other dance will accompany the movement, accompany the movement. So, this is one of the first Baroque steps that were created for Louis 14th. For you, Nene Ortega in Hollywood, Florida."
