Hello I'm Jacklyn Laflamme from JacklynLaframme.com. In this clip I'm going to show you how to color anime with color pencils. I've started off with a light, light pencil sketch. I'm going to take a black pencil and just darken in all the lines. There are lots of different types of anime. Some are more realistic and some are more cartoony. Still life anime is actually called manga. So I'm just starting here to put in the lines. As you can see, in anime style, the hair is usually very, very spiky and has a lot of energy and life to it. And just draw in all these spiky lines. The faces are usually very angular. And the eyes are very, very expressive. And you see you can just get an expression, we haven't even drawn the eyes in yet, but just with the lines of the eyebrows you can see the expression coming to life. And again, very angular lines on the eyes. We'll just get the expression in here. Just with lines you can see the face coming to life. The noses are usually very simple. Just a line and a dot. And again, the mouth very expressive but just shown with one line. And just draw in a little bit of the body here. And the neck. Well then we're going to take some orange and we're going to start working a little bit on this hair. And as you can see we're just going to go, use a technique that goes back and forth so it almost looks like you're getting the lines of the hair in just in the stroke of the pencil and the way that you're using the pencil. Some nice big thick lines over it. And then a little bit darker. And you can continue in filling in the hair in this manner. You can add a little bit of color to the eyes just to bring out a bit of the expression. And you can continue adding lighter and darker colors all the way throughout the drawing. And when you get done you'll have a beautiful animated figure. So I'm just working on filling in the face. And as you can see I've taken the side of the pencil and I'm just going back and forth, nice and light. And you can go light if you want a lighter shadow or you can press harder if you want to have a little bit of a darker shadow coming in. And this is a nice fast way to fill in a big area.
