"A college baseball coach can come from many sources and there's no certain way to become a college baseball coach or no one single way. But a lot of the college coaches come from, if successful, high school programs, where that they've been a head coach there, or they were outstanding in college, or professional player, and they're simply asked to join a coaching staff at a college. However, there's another way if you don't have that as an option, and that is to simply contact the colleges that you might have interest in and look for a volunteer assistant position. Each one of those college staffs are allowed to have at least one college coach that is called a volunteer assistant coach, and almost all the coaches I know that have broken into the college ranks as a coach began that way. You simply volunteer your time for a year or two years until a position opens up and generally speaking, then you'll get promoted from within. So thats a much easier way and a simpler way, plus you gain valuable experience on learning about the program, what the requirements are, what the protocols are, getting to know the game better, and becoming a better college coach. So, if you really want to be a college baseball coach I would suggest contacting colleges you have interest in and tell them that you'd like to volunteer your time as a volunteer assistant at their university."
