"Okay so we have learned six notes so far on our bass we know E open E, F, and G,A,B and C. Trying playing back down hat is C,B,A,G,F,E now a important component before you move on is switching between these strings. So this really comes down to your right hand, your picking hand, your melody hand. For E try alternating then moving up to A to alternate. Make this a study pattern E,E,E,E and then moving the first finger up. Then starting again A,A,A,A then try combining notes so maybe playing F and the E string and then C with your second finger. You can do stretching patterns to your fingers stretch. Two frets around from each other and a string away that is C,F,C. Here is a good exercise to do in alternating this is sort of a surf type of bass lines it is E the second part of the A string, it is the second finger plucked here to. G pluck with your first fingers and then here back to D just the cycle of E,G,E,E,G,B,E,B,G,E,B and that is just going to be the first thing you playing on the E string it is the second finger playing here. Then try playing F,G,A,C,F,G,A,C and that is going to be your first finger and the second finger alternating on the E string first one, two and then on A, one, two.
