Instructions
  1. Step 1

Before you begin anything, have an in-depth hair color consultation with your client. Ask them questions about what like and do not like about their current hair color. Make your client feel comfortable and explain the entire process to your client, including price. Decide with your client how subtle or how dramatic of a hair color change they desire. Trust in your professional expertise and experience to make the best recommendation for your client age and lifestyle.

  2. Step 2

Pre-color the base of your client's hair to even out the pallet. This is not required, but if you are looking for a fresh, evenly colored head of hair to create your hair highlighting and hair low lighting effects, then use the root hair color or natural hair color as your guide to make a base color selection. This technique works just as well with a virgin head of hair. Virgin hair color is usually present with younger clients because hair graying and/or hair discoloring has not began to take its effect.

  3. Step 3

After the base hair coloring, completely blow dry the hair before you begin the hair highlighting and hair low lighting. Prepare your station with your Maje Foils, then mix your hair lightener and/or hair color solutions. Use hair colors that are a few shades lighter or a few shades darker for the most natural look. The idea here is to create draping hair color dimension to accent the overall hair color beneath.

  4. Step 4

Start in the back of your client hair, not to have hair foils hanging in their face. The hair foiling pattern will be a combination of slicing and weaving sections of hair, back-to-back, leaving no hair in between. Foil this pattern straight down the middle of the head, directly to their hairline.

  5. Step 5

Once the foiling is complete, be sure to check the processing every 5 minutes in the beginning... then more frequently as the hair gets closer to your desired shade(s).

  6. Step 6

After everything has processed, wash out the coloring solutions, shampoo and condition the hair. Next, blow dry and style the hair to showcase your hair highlighting and hair low lighting creation.
