"Hi my name is Alena Maria Garcia and I'm with Bluedog Acting School for Kids in Miami, Florida. Now let's talk about how to become a teenage actress and number 1) you cannot go to any agent, call any agent or photographer if you do not have a parent with you. If you are under age it is very important that you have proper supervision and that you have done your homework, you have researched the photography, you have researched your agent, you have researched the school that you want to go to. There are many many acting schools, after school programs, weekend programs that are open to young actors and we absolutely recommend that but you must do your homework, find out who is teaching the class, what is their experience and start like that. Also join your theater group in school, your after drama club, read, read, read, as many plays as you can, start generating monologues and scenes. You have to look at acting if you want to really do this seriously as a full time job. This is your job and you must dedicate yourself to making you the best that you possibly can because it is not just you going out there and becoming a star, it's you and another million other kids that want to do this. You also need to concentrate in school on reading, English, math, believe it or not because that is also what helps you succeed in this business. You are a business person. You are selling your talent and your ability and the only way for you to stand out again is to be trained and know what you are talking about. There is nothing worse than to be sitting with someone who thinks they are an actor and they have no idea how this business works. It is a business, a business of performing and you are your own boss."
