How to Haul Your ATV's Without a Trailer

Video Preview

Summary: Many people who own quads typically use a trailer to transport them. With gas prices being what they are (HIGH!), we've installed a heavy duty tonneau cover on our truck that allows us to haul 2 quads without a trailer. The tonneau cover is rated for 1,600 lbs. and can fit 2 full sized quads. Here's how to find one for your truck, install it and secure your ATV's for transport on your truck!

Instructions
  1. Step 1

Visit the DiamondBack® Covers website (see website below) and click on the "Products" tab at the top of the page. From the drop-down menu DiamondBack® HD and choose "ATV Solutions" from the left-hand menu to view the various long and short-bed packages and the different options for loading and hauling your quads.

  2. Step 2

Purchase a heavy duty truck cover with your choice of ATV package. The HD cover is rated for 1600 lbs. Directions for installation come with the kit. When you receive your kit, lay out all of the parts to make sure you have everything before you start installation.

  3. Step 3

After installation, load your quads for travel. If you are hauling 2 quads, load the first one closest to the cab of the truck by placing the ramps securely on the rails (DiamondBack® calls these adapter bars). Load the next quad by placing the ramps so that the tires of the quad travel roughly in the center of each ramp.

Secure the quad or quads by leaving them in 1st gear and applying the parking brake. Then, strap the front and back of the quad to the cleats (these come with the kit) using heavy duty ratchet straps. Use 4 ratchet straps per quad.
