Step 1
Have your Supplies and Tools together ready to roll."Cut-Squish-Roll"
Every step to make your puppy will always include these steps...Cut-Squish-Roll. Watch the Video! Gather up your supplies to make them easily within reach and lets begin. -
Step 2
Crosshatching is like drawing a"Making the Body Parts"
Cut your clay and squish it into a ball. Form a fat cylinder-this will be your body. Cut another piece of clay-roll it into a "coil" (snake) and cut it into 4 even cylinders. These are your legs. Crosshatch the ends of the legs and crosshatch the corresponding spots on the body where you will attach the legs. See the Video and look at the photos. Crosshatching is a ceramics term. Drawing a number symbol (#) in the clay with your needle at the points of attachment- is sufficient to make your legs attach to the body. This is important because you want don't want your legs to fall off. OMG! Cut a smaller piece of clay for the head. Try it on for size. Slice the mouth and open it with your fingers. This makes your puppy animated. -
Step 3
You can use colored polymer clay or not for your puppy dtails."Making the Head" "Attaching Everything"
Take your colored pieces of polymer clay and add your nose. ears, and make a tail for later. Poke some holes for the eyes. Cut a piece of aluminum foil and roll it into a toothpick. Cut a piece for the neck attachment to the body. Attach the head to the body and stand your puppy up to make sure it is stable. Add your tail. Preheat your kitchen oven according to the directions on your polymer clay wrapper and BAKE your puppy. Let it COOL. PAINT your eyes and /or details if you want. You're done!

on 7/25/2009 I LOVE your video!! Excellent. Such a cute project. I may have to run out and get some polymer clay and try it. I've never used clay before. I'd love to make some the likeness of our coonhounds. How fun! Thanks. 5 stars
