"This is Amelia Smith on behalf of Expert Village. We'll be talking about the care and styling of curly hair. What frizz is the the hair shaft is actually made up of three layers you have the cuticle, the cortex and the medulla. The cuticle is what causes the frizz you probably can't see this I actually got one piece of hair up. The cuticle is what lays on the outside of the hair shaft it actually lays like roof shingles and dry hair which curly hair is usually dry. It lifts then the moisture from the atmosphere actually gets into those holes and causes it to swell even more. Cuticle doesn't open up and close like a window it more swells and contracts like your skin or like wood during a storm. What you are going to want to do is you are going to want to look for products that have silicon or dimethicone anything with that type of word in the product. You can find that just in the back of the product it should be one of the first things in the product like this one has dimethicone and cyclomethiconeso this is perfect. You would just use a little bit of this on your hands and you will see it will feel real slick and then you would just coat the hair and that will help control the frizz."
