Video Preview

Summary: You will be able to add a favicon to your website without modifying your HTML. Favicons appear on your browser next to the URL, in tabs, on bookmarks, and some web tool. This approach will work for static sites, flash-driven sites, blogs - any site in which you have the ability to upload a graphic to the site's webroot.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Go to one of the many free favicon-generation sites available. One of the easiest to use is favicon.cc. You can also upload a simple graphic from your desktop.

  2. Step 2

Download your favicon. You may need to unzip it from the downloaded file - the final result will be a favicon.ico file.

  3. Step 3

You then place your favicon in the docroot directory of your website. With a shared hosting site, you should have a file manager option through your control panel. You may also use an FTP program like FileZilla or ExpanDrive

  4. Step 4

Check on your browser to make sure your new favicon appears.
