"Wireless data networking is a system of connecting two or more computers together without the use of wires. Basically the way it works is you use devices that transmit via radio waves, rather than using a system of actual hard cables. You might think what's the point of that. Well first and biggest point of it is freedom. If as an example, instead of having your laptop tethered by a cable to a wired router, instead of being stuck in one room, or having to get a really, really long cable, which cables can get kind of expensive after a while. You are able to say take it into the kitchen, the living room, even outside depending on the strength of your wireless networking equipment. Based on the strength of the router, and the strength of the receiving device will determine how far you can take it. The standard that is most commonly implemented is the one that most people know is called WiFi. Other standards exist, but they are relatively obscure. The one that most people that see this are going to use is WiFi."
