"Let's talk about how to get rid of bad breath in dogs or halitosis. Now, halitosis comes from bacterial build up in the mouth and specifically on the teeth. So, bacteria build up on the teeth create plaque which also can lead to tartar build up which is basically a very hard concrete-like substance on the teeth and so this is just all foul smelling and a lot of owners complain about that especially as dogs get older 'cos there's more tartar build up as they get older. Your best bet when there's quite a bit of tartar build up on teeth is to have your veterinary clinic perform a dentistry and get rid of all that, they can get rid of the tartar and posh the teeth up and coat the teeth in certain products that will help prevent tartar build up in the future. Also, using dry food more so than canned food can prevent more tartar build up as well. Now, there are certain treats and rubbery types of bones that are designed for dogs to chew on to get some of that plaque and tartar off that can be helpful as well. But don't forget about brushing your dog's teeth that can be very beneficial. There are finger kits, finger brush kits that will provide you a toothpaste and tell you how to do it and you can brush these teeth as much as possible actually it's what's going to really help keep that bad breath down. There are also modern commercial products that you can put in the water and other treats as well. Check with your veterinary clinic as far as how beneficial they are."
