"Hi this is Kevin Battersby at the Toski-Battersby Golf Learning Center in Cocoa Creek, Florida, PGA classic professional. In this clip I am going to show you how to improve your swing speed in your golf swing. Again any golf shot will have to start with the grip for speed especially. There are two grips in golf. In your putting grip you would have a grip where the club shaft and your forearm are in a one to one relationship with no angle there, which provides for actually lack of speed, but control. On the flip side for your full swing shot you want the pad of the left hand on top creating a forty-five degree angle here, which is easier illustrated from there so the wrist can hinge to ninety. That would be essential before any talk about trying to improve your speed. The next feature about that when you are talking about golf swing speed you have to create a swing. In the swinging the motion comes from your hands and arms pulling your body into position. So another good exercise for that would be to put your feet together, and try to create as much momentum and swing as you can with your hands and arms, and allowing the club to swing around your body to the side and above, and then back from the side. In no different than hitting your back shot with a driver the swing speed and length of the club help dictate that. So after the proper grip put your feet together, and then try to create a nice whirl and sound with the club. The next one I will swing a little bit faster to create speed, and as I do you will notice that I am not really trying to move my body faster. It reacts and responds to the swing of my arms. No different than others sports when you are throwing a golf ball, baseball, or swimming or anything like that your body responds to the motion of your arms. The speed again is coming from the club face, and your hands and arms swinging around your body creating an arch, and then picking up maximum speed at impact, and sending the ball down the fairway straight as you can go. That is a great exercise. Once you achieve that you can move your feet apart, and gain more distance. This is Kevin Battersby showing you how to get more club speed in your golf swing."
