"There are several things you should look for on your tank on a regular basis possibly even a daily basis This is an open air tank and I have a lot of evaporation so almost daily I have to check the salt levels and if the water is getting a little too salty I'll add some fresh water. This is 1.024 which is fine but I do need to add some water because I noticed my protein skimmer isn't working. The water level has gone down low enough probably because I sold some fish out of here yesterday that the protein skimmer is not working. It is sucking air and you also want to look at all your pumps and make sure they're working and your filter, make sure they are slow coming out of your filter. If not then that's the cue to do something about it and also take a look at all the fish, see how they are behaving. Sometimes their behaviors can be an indication of some water quality issues. If they are breathing heavy you want to grab a sample of water and test it immediately for ammonia nitrate, pH, see what's going on with the tank and basically that's it. You should also take a look at your thermometer and make sure your heater is working correctly because often times that is something I overlook and sometimes heaters fail and your temperature will go up and you might not notice it until thing start to go wrong in the tank but if you keep an eye on it on a daily basis then you should be all set."
