"This is Chris Fernandez here with Chris McMullen at Flash Academy here in Salt Lake City, Utah. We're talking about how to become the best balanced fighter you can be. First of all whether you're right handed or left handed you always keep your power throw behind you. You don't want to stand what we call, on a rope which is directly behind you because you get more push and you're either balancing on your heel or on your toe. So you bring that back foot out a little bit so you are a little square, so you have some balance. And you want to make sure your feet are shoulder width apart as well. That's where your balance is. So when you're moving at all times you're moving and your feet are always shoulder width apart. That's where you keep your balance no matter what. Now if you end up squared he could push me or even hit me and I'd land off balance. Okay so you never want to wind up squared even if you're working on the inside you don't want to be here working on the inside you want to choose one side or the other to where you still have your balance and your feet under you. There's actually one tool that we use when we're training a kid, mainly starting out, is that we have. It's a rope that we tie on their ankles so far apart. We usually want to go about the widths end with their shoulder so when they're moving their feet they're constantly boxing and moving they're not getting too wide and they're not bringing their feet too close where they are off balance. Because if you go too wide or too close they're both going to be the same which is off balance. And so you want to make sure that you have that balance at all time. With balance is speed, with balance is power as well."
