"My name is Susan Summons, and I am a basketball coach here at Miami Dade College Kendall Campus. Let's talk about how to become a leader in basketball. First, great basketball coaches are leaders. Leaders are teachers, teachers are leaders, and basketball coaches are teachers. That's what they do. Becoming a great leader you have to lead by example. You have to have a selfless ambition. Selfless ambition refers to your ability as a player where you are not focused, and you are humble. You are humble. You are not focused on what you are doing, but you are more focused on your teammates and what they need to do. Being a great leader means you are willing to dive on the floor after a basketball, dive on the floor and hit your knees or your elbow. Whatever it takes to generate that energy to do what? Motivate your teammates, even motivate and instill a level of excitement with your players and your coaches. Becoming a great leader means you are willing to incorporate in your game, and with your teammates the honorable principles of competition. Honorable principles of competition, and emphasize good sportsmanship. And leaders have to be willing when the game is on the line, and they are in the huddle they have to be the ones to say, "Let's go guys, we can do it. We can win this game." No matter what the score is. The leader is always the one telling all their teammates that they can win the game. A leader focuses on positive concept, positive behavior, and they never share negative behavior. Those are some tips on how to become a great leader in this basketball game."
