"Hello. My name is Susan Summons and I'm a college basketball coach here at Miami Dade College Kendall Campus. Lets talk about how do you make yourself a better shooting guard in basketball. I'd like to talk about a shooting principle called RIP. RIP. And RIP is a shooting principle that I've developed and devised over the years as a basketball coach that I think is very effective. First of all RIP talks about taking a shooting guard or a player and helping them to focus on repetition. If you want to be a better shooting guard in this game of basketball you've got to be willing to repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat what? Repeat the shot. Repeat the technique in the shot. Repeat the form. Use the same form over and over again. Repetition. And then as a shooting guard you have to be willing to shoot with intensity. Oftentimes when we're in the game we're not emphasizing the game when we're practicing. It's important that you use intensity in your shooting game. So you want to shoot at game speed. You want to take game shots and you want to play game like shots to become a better shooting basketball player. And then third you have to practice folks. It doesn't matter what level of the game you're at. Middle school, youth, community college, college, pro players. Pro players take almost two to three hundred shots a day just working on shooting form. Because they're emphasizing repetition. The more you repeat the shot, repeat the technique, the more mentally and physically and neurologically and mechanically it becomes more easy to do. You don't think about it you just shoot it and the shot goes down. Larry Byrd was great at doing that. There were many great players that did that. But you have to be willing to practice because guess what folks? I think everyone in America knows this. Practice makes perfect. So if you practice and you practice you're going to become perfect. And that's just some tidbits on how to become better shooting guard in basketball."
