"Hi friends. I'm Mark Govan of ABC Pest Control in Largo, Florida and todays question is how do you kill fleas? Well I'll tell you there's a bunch of different ways to kill fleas. But number one thing we need to do is to go ahead and determine where the fleas are. Are they inside the home? Are they outside the home? Are they on our pets or are they on our person? All these ways may have different controls and lets go over those real quick. If they're on your pet you could always take your pet to either a veterinarian to have your pet dipped for fleas and that will go ahead and kill the fleas that are on the pet. You can use flea collars or such as Advantage or Frontline products to use on the pet. That will go ahead and keep the fleas off the pet and kill some of the eggs that are on there as well. If the fleas are inside the house, using products such as Precor 2000 or products containing Precor which kill the eggs, which is very important because of how many eggs the adult flea will lay. If you use this on the carpeted areas of your home it'll take less than a can to go ahead and get rid of all the fleas inside the house and will last for several months controlling those fleas and controlling the eggs that are developing into the new fleas. Also if they're outside the home you want to go ahead and use a product such byfenthrin, which is also under a trade name of Talstar. These products come in a liquid form and you want to go ahead and spray the areas where your pets may run outside the home. If you're noticing them outside in the yard try to concentrate on those areas where the pets lay. Maybe if you have a crawl space under your home where the pet frequents you want to make sure you spray those areas as well. And underneath any of the shrubbery where your pet or maybe if you have to have some occasional invaders like a raccoon or maybe even an opossum. Fleas will attack them as well and they will follow those, you'll actually see fleas following those pets and those nuisance animals around your home. So by spraying those areas underneath these plants with Talstar you can go ahead and control fleas there as well. Finally, controlling fleas is a real good thing to do. Inside the home is by using your vacuum cleaner. Vacuum cleaners inside the home will pick up not only the flea eggs but the adult fleas as well. Make sure you get rid of the vacuum bag when you're finished. I'm Mark Govan with ABC Pest Control in Largo, Florida hoping you have a pest free day."
