"Hi friends! I'm Mark Govan with ABC Pest Control in Largo, Florida and today the question is, how can we control fleas organically? Well, there's many many things that we can do both inside the house and outside the house to control fleas organically. Let's with the inside the house. A couple easy ways to control fleas inside the house, the first most important thing is by vacuuming the home on a regular basis. Using your vacuum cleaner going over even your tiled floors as well as the wood floors and especially the carpeted areas and pet bedding areas where the pets maybe sleeping. Also, pay close attention to areas such as beds where a pet may lay on the bed but always jumps down onto the floor. Remember, anywhere a pet jumps the pet will shake loose the flea eggs from their fur and they're going to land on the floor and congregate in that one area. So, vacuum in those areas, when you're all done vacuuming you want to go ahead and take that vacuum bag and throw that vacuum bag in the garbage to get it out of the house. The next thing you can do of course is controlling the fleas that are in the pet. Well, to do that there are flea combs available. A lot of people have used flea combs before and you just run the comb through the pet hair and really important thing to do to catch those fleas is making sure you have a dish of soapy water right in front of you. As you find the fleas on the flea comb, you push them off with your thumb and they get stuck into the soapy water so that soapy water will really help to go ahead and capture the adult fleas and that'll stop any more of those fleas laying more eggs in the yard, in inside the home. Also, using products like Diatomaceous Earth or Borax inside the home, sprinkle it very very lightly in your carpeted areas and in some cracks and crevices that you might have, even on wood floors. That Borax, it's an organic product and what happens is if the flea comes in contact with it and it's real sharp particles and it actually cuts the cuticle on the flea body and then the flea will bleed to death and die so those are good ways organically inside the home to get rid of fleas. Outside the home, in the yard or maybe if you have a dog run is to water the lawn and water those areas down very very religiously. Now, if you do that, what you're doing is you're eliminating the flea feces which the flea larva have to have to feed on in order for them to continue to develop into an adult flea. Pay attention to those areas, if you do, you'll eliminate those fleas in your home organically. I'm Mark Govan with ABC Pest Control in Largo, Florida hoping you have a pest-free day."
