"Hi friends! I'm Mark Govan with ABC Pest Control in Largo, Florida and the question today is, when is flea season? Well, in the southern states where we have our warm winters and very hot summers, flea season is just about all year round. However, if you have a pet it could be flea season even up north inside your home all year round. How do you determine how you can get rid of these fleas or to make sure that you get rid of the fleas at the proper time? What you want to look for is we can tell you a couple easy ways to monitor how many fleas you might be seeing inside your home? If you take a white blanket and put that blanket down on the floor, you can watch and you can actually see fleas jumping on to that blanket and that will give you a good indication of how many fleas are actually live and living in your home. By timing it, if you get two or three within a period of time, you can just about figure that there's about ten times that number somewhere without inside the home. So, those are areas that you can use or items that you can use to go ahead and figure out how many fleas you have and the time of year is also very important because if we're in the summertime the fleas can produce very very quickly. They can go from an egg into an adult in seven to fourteen days depending on temperature. Now, up north where it snows you may not have that problem outside but remember in an enclosed environment inside your home up north, you maintain a good seventy, seventy-five degree temperature inside the house so those fleas could be there all the time. Down here in South Florida where we are, we have a flea season all year round but it peaks in May, June and July, that's where we really see a lot of fleas coming out. And that's the time that we either have to start spraying the lawn areas and the bush areas and the run areas where your pets might be outside running and using Precor inside the house to keep flea population and the egg population from developing. I'm Mark Govan from ABC Pest Control in Largo, Florida hoping you have a pest-free day."
