"If you want to make grapefruit essential oil you need to take the grapefruit and your zester and take the skin off of the grapefruit. You don't want to get the white pith underneath because that is bitter and the grapefruit skin has all the oils in it. You can take this and you can dry it and once it is dry very slowly in the oven over the course of the day you can take a nice dark jar because the dark color will not allow the sunlight to break down the oils and the product and stuff it in there until it's all, the jar is completely filled then take a carat oil like sweet almond oil and fill it up, put it in a dark place and let it sit until the oil has the fragrance of the grapefruit. Then you can strain the grapefruit out of it into another container. You can put it in a little bottle or a bigger bottle just make sure it's dirt and then you have grapefruit essential oil that you can use as really energizing bath oil, put it in a little cornstarch to make a bath powder. You can put it in bath salts. You can use it just as a perfume and you'll have an essential oil that you can use in many different products even in soap. That's how you make grapefruit essential oil."

on 9/10/2009 Hmm, Lauren, This again, is an oil INFUSION, and *NOT* an Essrential oil, which is steam distilled or cold pressed from the rind of citrus. OF all your "Essential Oils" videos, this one falls the least distance from the truth, but all other Videos for which I and others have commented upon regarding the usage of the term "Essential Oil", are woefully incorrect and need to be taken down and revised with proper terminology.

on 9/7/2009 This is an INFUSED oil, not an essential oil.

on 9/7/2009 That is not an essential oil she is making, it's an infused oil. EOs are made via steam distillation. Grapefruit EO is an exception, made by expression of the skins. Infused oils are made as she's showing, but typically in a wide-mouth jar for ease of removal. Also, infused oils can 'grow' bacteria if not carefully decanted off.
