"Well, I think with all the information available on the Internet that doesn't hurt to go to Edmund's or Kelly, one of the search sites and actually price center vehicle, get an idea of what the fair market trade value is and you can also watch the newspaper to get an idea of what are private parties trying to sell that type of vehicle for. And again, part of it is you know that you're going to save yourself the trouble and time of having to detail and market it and advertise it. Keep in mind the dealership and wants to get your vehicle in trade if it's a clean vehicle, if it shows real well, they know they have a chance to make a profit when they sell it so they're going to put more vehicle, more money in your vehicle to help trade for. It doesn't hurt to have a car fax report on your vehicle and to have your service records. Any information that you can give this salesman that he can share with the sales manager, that's going to help to build value in your vehicle and the more they know about your car, the more willing they're going to be to stretch and put that extra dollar on your vehicle in trade. If you're trading your vehicle and you do have a balance owing, it really helps to have an exact pay-off quote and most lenders will give you ten day pay-off quote and by having your pay-off you can get a better idea of what you're new monthly payments will be. You can get your pay-off on line, in many instances the lenders can fax you your pay-off with all the mailing information and the exact amount."
