"Hi, this is Dr. Loretta Ciraldo from Dr.Loretta.com, board certified dermatologist, and author of Six Weeks to Sensational Skin. Let's talk a little bit about the different types of skin problems. First of all, we dermatologists always like to talk about a change in any existing mole or growth you have. Any of this, whether it's a change in the color, in the symptoms, if you have an existing lesion or mole, and all the sudden it's becoming itchy, if it's bled, if it's become darker or lighter, or growing rapidly, please bring that problem to a board certified dermatologist to assess, and you may need to even have a biopsy. But then the other kinds of skin problems besides growths, can usually be divided in to two types of problems, one would be the very chronic kind of problem, where you've got something that's very long lasting, and the other is the acute problem. And often times, we dermatologists will say that if you have a problem that's not all that bothersome or symptomatic, wait four weeks, and try to treat it symptomatically, as long as it's not getting worse. If it's not gone in a four week period for sure, please see your dermatologist, and certainly, if it seems like something that could be dangerous, go immediately to your dermatologist."
