"Hi, this is Dr. Loretta Ciraldo, from Dr.Loretta.com, board certified dermatologist, and author of " Six Weeks to Sensational Skin." Let's talk a little bit about the best treatment for itchy skin. Having been a dermatologist for thirty years, itchy skin is something I see an awful lot of, and there are two wonderful things I want to tell you about. The first, is typically when your skin is itchy, you need to calm it down by putting tepid water on the area. Not hot water, but tepid to cool in temperature, and hydrate up your skin. Either sit in a bathtub, or put on a compress, if it's one area where you've got the itch. Keep it well hydrated, so keep that compress on for a good, maybe even if you have five minutes or so. Take the compress off, and then apply a nice moisturizing lotion. If possible, if you happen to be able to get some aloe, this is also wonderful for itchy skin. I personally keep an aloe plant outside of my kitchen window, but if you would like to just buy some aloe lotion, this is wonderful treatment for itchy skin, and the best of luck to you."
