Hi, this this Sally with Century Travel in Austin Texas with some international travel tips. First of all, be sure to take a copy of your passport with you. That can be very useful if yours get lost of stolen. Make sure your passport has at least six months extending still on the passport valid date from the time you come home. Some countries are increasingly requiring that. Maybe get a cellphone that works over there or call your company and see if yours can be unlocked to work over there. Many now can. It will be very handy for making restaurant reservations and other things that you may want to do as well as for people to contact you from home if need be. Be aware of your foot ware. You want comfortable shoes. Someone taught me the trick long ago of having black walking shoes or tennis shoes.That can take you even into a restaurant to dine at night. It's so much less obtrusive than white tennis shoes would be. You need both a converter and an adapter in order to have electrical appliances work. One to convert the current, one to adapt the plug. Think about pacing your trip. Do not feel like you have to run around seeing everything this time. Part of the pleasure of travel should be just being, like in Italy, enjoying a gelato watching the people go by. Enjoying a cappuccino somewhere and watching life go on around you. Learn some words for the country that you're going to. It's amazing how much that is appreciated even if you bumble you're way through it. My old washcloth advice because people are often surprised that most European hotels and other places in the world, unless they're very deluxe, they're not going to furnish you a washcloth. Take some inexpensive ones and throw them away as you go. Do you research on the country that you're going to, learn what the customs are. Learn what dress is expected of you like in Italy and some other European countries you're expected, men and women, to have on long pants and to cover at least your upper arms. There are some monasteries in parts of the world that will expect women to have a skirt. Most of those furnish them, some type of wraparound they can give you but you might want to take a large scarf along just in case.
