"Hi, I'm Joe Harpole. I handle hardwood for ProCare here in Nashville. I'm going to talk today about caring for your bamboo floors. Just to give you a little background, bamboo is a very fast-growing grass in the Orient. It grows much, much faster than trees. It's cut and pressed into form, and held together with glue. It's cut then in the shape of hardwood floors, just like our hardwood is cut, the hardwood we've been working with, and can be cared for very much like hardwood, because it's finished with polyurethane, just like most floors are in hardwood today. The care for polyurethane floors--whether it's bamboo or hardwood--is very must the same. Get the dust up. Keep the dust off, where you can. Dust mop it every once in a while with a good hardwood floor cleaner--the same hardwood floor cleaner that you would use on regular hardwood, because that's what's formulated for polyurethane. Bamboo, in general, is a little bit softer than hardwood, and sanding it has to take a little bit more care, but it's sandable just like hardwood floors are. It can be installed just like hardwood floors: glued or nailed down. It's dimensionally quite stable, and works very well as a hardwood floor."
